Bang!I've got AMNESIA!

If life was a Korean drama we would all be living in a world full of unrequited loves,love
triangles,cross-dressers and of course amnesiacs!In fact I think every person would experience amnesia at least once in their lives,some even 2 or 3 times. In K-drama world every fall,every accident,every blow to the head will lead to one and only one thing: AMNESIA!This is just a silly note about amnesiacs in the world of Korean dramas.Be ware that it's going to be full of spoilers.(Some of the facts might not be correct since I don't remember some of these dramas quite clearly!Oh no!I think I might have amnesia too!!!)

1-Winter Sonata

How it happened:Once upon a time there lived a sweet little boy named Joon-sang.He was very shy and he had jet black hair.He fell in love with this sweet little girl who might or might not have  been his sister!(Don't get me started on that!) For some reason that I don't remember he had to leave her,but while he was leaving he suddenly realized how much he loved her and ran out of the cab.He ran and ran and then BANG!He was hit by a car.Naturally the accident turned him into an amnesiac.

How long did it last? Ten years later the boy was still an amnesiac,though he didn't really know that he was an amnesiac.He thought he was someone else.He met that sweet little girl -who for some reason looked much younger than 10 years ago-again and fell in love with her all over again.

Did it have any side effects? Apparently it had some side effects on his sense of judgement!Anyone who dyes his hair that ugly orange and wears the most hideous outfits ever definitely needs to double check his sense of judgement!

How was it cured?After seeing that sweet little girl , every once in a while some little memories would come back to him.Then, once when he was walking down the street BANG!(No ,he didn't have another accident!) all his memories came back.Just then when he remembered everything and was about to tell that sweet little girl about it,BANG!(Yeah,this time there was an accident!) He was hit by a car (truck?). Since nothing is easy in K-dramas ,as a side effect to that second accidents he lost his sight.Now he was no longer an amnesiac but he no longer could see!

2-Stairway to heaven

 How it happened:Once upon a time there was this sweet little girl who was in love with this sweet little boy.The sweet little boy had to leave the country and live abroad ( yeah,what's new?!) so the sweet little girl had to endure years of living with her evil stepmother and eviler stepsister.The much less evil stepbrother fell in love with her .When the sweet little girl grew up she realized that the sweet little boy had come back.So she gathered all her strength and ran towards him.Just when she was about to see him,BANG! Her evil stepsister hit her with her car.Naturally the accident turned her into an amnesiac!

How long did it last?5 years.The sweet little girl now lived with her stepbrother.She met the sweet little boy -who was now engaged to the evil stepsister-again and he tried to make her remember...

How was it cured?One day the sweet little girl was walking down the street when suddenly BANG!Her evil stepsister nearly hit  her with her car again and then BANG!She remembered everything.She told the sweet little boy everything and just when everyone was about to live happily ever after BANG!She got eye cancer!(Wow,Korean drama characters get some really weird diseases!)So she went blind.The now-lovely stepbrother killed himself to give her his cornea.The transplant was successful and she regained her vision.And since nothing is easy in Korean dramas,BANG!In the end she died of that said eye cancer!(Why did I even watch this?!!!)

3-Boys over flowers
 How it happened:Once upon a time there lived this possessive little jerk with really stupid curly black hair -who we love despite everything-named Gu Jun-pyo.He was in love with this annoying little girl and together they suffered from misunderstanding after misunderstanding after misunderstanding.So when the writers came short of ideas for another misunderstanding they decided to make him an amnesiac!So here's what happened:the annoying little girl left him,his friend -a stoic little boy- followed the annoying little girl and our possessive little jerk followed him.When a car was about to hit the stoic little boy the possessive little jerk ran to save his friend and then BANG!The car hit him.Naturally he became an amnesiac!

How long did it last?A few days later Jun-pyo was still suffering from amnesia,but the thing was he had only forgotten one person:the annoying little girl,a.k.a the love of his life.

How was it cured?An attempted suicide in the name of noble idiocy was all it took to make him remember the love of his life.

Did it have any side effects? Yes,he became even more of a jerk!

Arang and the magistrate:

How it happened:Once upon a time there lived this sweet little girl who was in love with this mysterious little boy.One night when she was following the mysterious little boy on a bridge ,BANG!Someone stabbed her in the back,and BANG!She died.Wait,then what happened to the amnesia part?! Well, she became a ghost who suffered from amnesia!The only amnesiac ghost in the world!

How long did it last?3 years later and she still couldn't remember anything.She met this sweet little boy who could see ghosts and asked him to solve her murder.In a series of events she became human again,only, still, she couldn't remember anything.

Did it have any side effects? It totally changed her personality.She became a very strong sassy girl who was just perfect!(At least in the first 10 episodes!)

How was it cured?Memories came back little by little but once when She sort of fell into the arms of the mysterious little boy,BANG!She remembered everything.

Nice guy/Innocent man

How it happened:Once upon a time there was this bitchy little girl who met this not-so-nice little boy.The bitchy little girl fell in love with the not-so-nice little boy.When she realized that he had been lying to her all along she decided to attempt a double suicide-homicide and kill the not-so-nice guy along with herself.The not-so-nice guy who was a very innocent man deep down in his heart saw her coming and since he was actually a nice guy who couldn't be found anywhere else in the world ,he went along with her plan and then BANG!The two cars collided.Naturally she became an amnesiac.

How long did it last?A year later and she still couldn't remember anything.She met the now very-nice guy once again and they fell in love.Once they were in love She suffered from an emotional blow and then BANG!(No,it's not the sound of her memories coming back!) she forgot everything once again!She got double-amnesia!YAY!

Did it have any side effects?Yes,the bitchy little girl was now a sweet little girl who was nice to everyone.Together with her now nice-guy they made a really nice-couple!

How was it cured?We don't exactly know how the double amnesia got cured but the first time amnesia got cured when someone gave her the paperwork from the accident and she realized that her car had collided with the car of the nice-guy/not-so-nice-guy she was in love with.The now-nice-guy who'd had a hematoma since the day of the accident didn't want his hematoma treated .He got lots of of headaches and one night BANG!He lost consciousness.He was about to get his hematoma treated when he left the hospital to meet the now half bitchy-half nice little girl and then BANG!He got stabbed in the back!We see him seven years later and we are informed that he too is suffering from-wait for it- AMNESIA!(Don't you just love Korean dramas?!)We see him giving a red ring box (which he had bought pre-amnesia) to the now really really nice little girl and BANG!We suddenly understand that he didn't have amnesia!(or did he?!)
